November 2023 brought us a unique experience: the EU DAY 1. In collaboration with Albeda College Economie & Ondernemen and Andrassy György Catholic Business Academy, we had the opportunity to delve deeper into the world of the European Union from a very personal perspective. The event began with a warm mutual introduction among students from the three participating schools. Through virtual platforms, we connected with each other and discovered how much we have in common despite our different backgrounds. This intercultural encounter laid the groundwork for an intensive and enriching learning adventure. A highlight of the EU DAY 1 was undoubtedly our virtual trip to Brussels. This virtual journey to Brussels gave concrete spaces and faces to the abstract concept of the "EU”, which is definitely one of the goals of this project. In addition, we had online meetings with representatives from the Permanent Representation of Austria and the Styrian Office in Brussels. The opportunity to speak directly with experts and hear their perspectives created a unique learning atmosphere. It was fascinating to learn how our European neighbors represent their interests on the international stage. The centerpiece of the EU DAY 1 was the group work on a self-chosen EU topic. In mixed teams, we engaged with current challenges and issues facing the EU. On a second EU Day in 2024 we will foster our teamwork but also enhance our ability to analyze complex issues and develop creative solutions. The EU DAY 1 not only imparted knowledge about the European Union but also opened doors to new friendships and perspectives. We look forward with anticipation to future joint projects and are grateful for the opportunity to learn together across borders. The second EU day will takes place in February or March 2024. A second report will follow.
