EU Day 1: 97 Students – 4 Teachers

Connecting Across Europe

On November 21, 2024, the 2AK class (Internationale Wirtschaft) at BHAK/BHAS Grazbachgasse participated in EU Day 1, an exciting online event with schools from the Netherlands, Spain, and Hungary. The day was all about learning, working together, and making new connections across Europe.

Each school gave a presentation about their country, school system, and daily life. Students added fun quizzes and shared interesting facts, making it an engaging way to learn about similarities and differences between Austria, Spain, Hungary, and the Netherlands. It was fascinating to see how unique yet connected we all are.
One of the really interesting parts of the day was the virtual field trip to Brussels. Guided by Iris Heinzl from Europe Direct Styria, we "traveled" through the EU’s capital city via Zoom. We visited the Styria office in Brussels, learned about its work, and explored EU institutions. This session showed us that Brussels isn’t just a place where decisions are made—it’s where countries work together to shape Europe. It was really cool to see how much collaboration goes into making the EU work and to feel part of something bigger.

In the afternoon, we formed small international groups to pick EU-related topics to research and present during EU Day 2 in March. Using digital tools like Padlet, we brainstormed ideas, got to know each other, and started planning our projects. It was exciting to work with students from different countries and learn how they think about European issues.

The day ended with group presentations and a digital farewell. Each team shared their ideas, and we all said goodbye until our next meeting. We’ll keep working on our topics in the coming months and reconnect in March to present what we’ve learned.

We very much want to thank IES Gabriel Miró, the Andrassy György Catholic Business Academy and Albeda College Economie & Ondernemen for the wonderful cooperation!
